The Many Benefits Of Home Schooling
July 24th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedThe benefit of home schooling will depend on the student and why the public school system is not serving them. To be fair, public school is essential and is worthy of our funding. This is mainly because not all families have the time, money, resources and discipline that your family does. If you are a student from a lower middle class or poor family, or from a family that is suffering from various disfunctions and for whatever reason doesn’t value education, then you are going to be better served in the public school. There will be no benefit of home schooling for you. On the other hand, if you are fortunate enough to have the resources, both financial and educational, then there are several benefits you can derive from home schooling.
Religious Beliefs In Conflict With Public School
Many people’s religious beliefs are in conflict with the curricula of most public schools. Many conservative Christians, people of the Jewish faith and other conservative beliefs have found that the public school system is all too ready to adopt secular and liberal views and to emphasize these views in the standard curriculum. Home schooling is beneficial in these cases because the parents can teach views that are consistent with their religious beliefs.
Education Made To Order
Not all students can excel in what is now a mainly one-size-fits-all public school system. However, to be fair, many students do excel in that system. For children who are very bright the courses can be more advanced allowing the child to excel beyond what they would be able to in the public school systems. For children who may have learning deficits the parents can spend more time on subjects which are troublesome. Children can have one on one instruction that is impossible in the public school sector.
New Angle To The Relationship Between Child And Parent
Many parents are missing out on the educational relationship they could have with there children. A benefit of home schooling is rekindling that relationship. Children who attend public schools spend many hours each day in the school and away from their parents. When the children and working parents get home in the evening they are all worn out from the day’s activities and very little quality time is spent together. Home schooled children are able to spend many hours each day in close relationship to their parents allowing for a stronger bond to develop.
Public Benefits To Home Schooling
Another benefit of home schooling is that it eases the burden on public schools while not decreases its financial resources. Many parents wish they could pay less taxes since their child is not attending the school. I believe this thinking is faulty and I hope you try to understand where I’m coming from, even though you don’t need to agree with me. The education of all in our community benefits each and every one of us. What you demand back in taxes would only end up going to building more prisons or new welfare programs. Non high school graduates get lower paying jobs, pay fewer taxes, are less likely to vote and often become a burden to society. Our investment in taxes for educating the community will pay off for us in the long run. So it is a huge benefit of home schooling if there is one less child in the school yet the school gets the same amount money to work with.
